Born in 1798 in Montpellier, Auguste Comte entered the competitive examination for the École Polytechnique in 1814 thanks to his high school mathematics teacher.
Received fourth, He was intern for two years in this prestigious Parisian establishment where he attended the courses of the greatest scientists of that time.
Because of the political events of the time (First Restoration, return of Napoleon during the Hundred Days, Second Restoration), Comte saw his promotion dismissed in 1816 because of his Bonapartist commitment.
